Anyone having information regarding a crime should phone the Pike County Crime Stoppers Hot Line at 1-217-285-1500. The calls to this number are on a stand-alone instrument with no Caller-ID features, and conversations are NOT recorded.

The caller is usually asked to call back within a certain length of time to check on the status of his tip, and when and where to collect the reward if one is issued. Informants are encouraged to check back on the status of their tip to determine if the crime was solved as a result of the information volunteered to know if their tip earned a reward.  Rewards of up to $1000 are paid for tips that result in an arrest.

The Crime Stoppers Coordinator receiving the call will complete the tip information work sheet. To assure TOTAL anonymity, the caller is given a secret code number for any future communication. The information is then passed onto an investigating officer to be used in solving the particular crime.

If the investigation by law enforcement results in the arrest and filing of criminal charges against a felony offender, or the apprehension of a felony fugitive, the caller would be eligible for a cash reward. The citizen who called Crime Stoppers and was assigned the secret code number, upon reading about the arrest of the criminal(s), will contact Pike County Crime Stoppers and will be given information on how to collect the reward. At NO time will anyone ever know the caller’s name or address. Everything is done using the “secret code number” assigned to each caller.
